The company that makes my fluoride gel is discontinuing the unflavored version. The problem is the mint one has caused bad reactions from me and others who use it. My pharmacy said they contacted my doctor to find an alternative for all his patients but he is not returning their calls.

Do you use a 0.4% stannous fluoride gel you recommend. One that is not loaded with mint. I would like to have some I can suggest if I have to call the doctor.

Squamous cell carcinoma base of tongue. Lymph involvement unclear; staging placed at "2 or 3." Biopsy 4/18/2008. Treatment: IMRT every day for 7 weeks. Cisplaten once a week to sensitize cancer to radiation. Treatment ended 7/16/08. PET/CT shows no more cancer.

Have you tried Colgate Gel-Kam Stannous Flouride Treatment Gel? "Contains 0.4% w/w Stannous Flouride Treatment Gel"

This product was recommended by my Oral Surgeon - It's not overpowering for me flavour wise and I've used it off and on for several years.

I hadn't even heard of it, despite doing some searching before. Thanks. Which flavor do you find easiest to handle?

Hi Andrew111

Fresh mint is the only flavour Ive tried from Gel-Kam. I only use a little now and again.

In addition to brushing with regular sensitive toothpaste, once per day I use Colgate NeutraFluor 5000 sensitive - 5000ppm Fluoride Professional Toothpaste (fresh mint) NeutraFluor helps prevent gum diseases. (recommended by my dental hygienist).

Hope this helps.

Karen
