Do not let soap and water run into the hole left from the feeding tube. It needs to heal from the inside out which can take a couple weeks. I would suggest showering with the peg site covered by a bandage for at least 3 or 4 days.

A drain sponge could be folded in half and in half again to make it a quarter of its regular size. Then cover it with paper tape and change it at least once a day after every shower. If paper tape doesnt work, try an ace bandage wrapped around your waist. Ive even heard of peg tube users wearing the stretch maternity bands.

Congrats and good luck smile

When mine was removed, there was nothing. A piece of Tegaderm was placed over it for 3 days. I stopped a ross the street and had fried chicken after they took it out.

You can cut up a ziploc bag and put one half over the site, tape it and go into the shower. It will take a few days to heal up. Our intervention radiologist said not to drink soda until it closes as the carbonation will keep the hole open longer. If the stomach fluid flows out and stings the skin, clean the site and put some barrier cream like Pro Shield Plus over it to protect the skin. You should feel better in a few days. Good luck.

I cut a corner off a drainage sponge and then put a Tegaderm over it. I just breakout like crazy from any kind of tape adhesive. So I try to change the direction of the Tegaderm daily. It's stopped bleeding and leaking and looks like it's healing. I did use plain water to rise it off.

So far I'm glad it's gone! I've been eating pretty well and weight has stayed pretty stable. I keep track of calories and salt, etc with app Lose It.

So now I just need to wait and see what next scan says about hotspot in lung. Hopefully it'll be gone!

I want to thank everyone for all the help offered. It was greatly appreciated. Today I am 24 weeks out and feeling better everyday.

Thank you!!!
