Has anybody heard about or had this treatment? Apologies if this has been asked previously.

Brother 51 Y/O
Had a biopsy to remove lump in throat
Recently been through Radio & Chemo
Is in recovery now and trying to deal with post issues
Has had 2 operations to allow food/drink go down throat (unsuccessful)
They say the throat is wide enough but it's the muscles are the problem with the swallowing action
Still feeding through a Peg
Has recently had another biopsy and the cancer is back

I have heard about Cryosurgery when I was looking into non surgical treatment options in 2009, but haven't heard much about it since or know of anyone who did this treatment or where it's offered in a CCC. There was a video on-line of a guy who had it done for head and neck cancer. I know heat, as opposed to the cold (Cryosurgery), is used to sensitize tumors before radiation in some cases.

Cryotherapy is used used to help with mucocitis, hair loss, neuropathy with some chemo's like taxotere, 5-FU.

That's about all I know. Good luck.

I have a friend who had cryosurgery to treat kidney cancer and has had no issues for 6 or 7 years. This and radio frequency ablation have been used for a while, although not for squamous cell carcinoma.

Thank you all for your replies and comments. I only first heard of it today and was directed to a website: http://www.fudahospital.com/en_asp_new/ for more information. It appears that it's very much a treatment based in Asia.

I had cryosurgery and radio frequency ablation for SCC mets to my lung. NED since 12/13. Cryoablation is often used with tumors in the lung.

Be well. Zenda

I found the video! After thinking, I remembered it might have been hyperthermia treatment,,and when conversing on-line on at the time on a AOL cancer group I was given the name cryosurgery. I was probably looking at alternative treatments at the time, and found the video of a BOT survivor who did hyperthermia treatment, possibly with low dose radiation. Needless to say I didn't do it.
