These and my numb left lip have been my biggest quality of life issues so far. But now after 8 months with a temporary dental plate for five of my front and side teeth, I have a partial metal denture that actually feels comfortable enough to wear all day. This is a big advance: no more running for the dental plate when someone comes to the door. No more need to take my teeth out to eat which meant I couldn't eat out. It's still hard to eat without making a mess but I now feel motivated to practise careful consumption of food in public. Thank goodness for prosthodontists.

1996, ovarian cancer surgery + cisplatin and taxol.
September, 2007, SCC of left lateral tongue. Excision.
October, 2009 recurrence in scar tissue, T1NOMO. Free flap surgery from left wrist - neck dissection. 63 year old New Zealander. No chemo, no RT.
February, 2014. New primary in left buccal mucosa. Marginal mandibulectomy, neck dissection, right arm free forearm flap. T1N0M0 but third occurrence and some areas of concern: RT started 8 April and finished 19 May.

That's great to hear. You will feel so much more confident now. Both with engaging with others and eating out.
I hope our Public Health system sorted this for you.
Have a wonderful Christmas,
Tammy.

That's wonderful news, Alpaca. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for you. So great to have some relief! I hope you continue to get stronger and stronger.
