Joined: Nov 2013 Posts: 37 | I had a free flap procedure completed using part of my chin instead of my forearm. It is extremely tight in the area used as well as the left side of my tongue (flap) down the neck. I assume part of it is the scar tissue/radiation and tethering of the flap. Do any of you who had the flap surgery/radiation have the same experiences?

SCC front left lateral tongue T2N0M0 After neck dissection. partial glossectomy 12/26/13. Perinueral Invasion. IMRT 60gy 30 treatments beginning 2/5/14 through 3/19/14.

Surgeons can go in after this has completely healed and make adjustments to loosen it up. usually they will make the patient wait at least 6 months, most often at least a year before they will do any reconstruction. Its a pretty easy procedure, usually outpatient if its not too involved.
