VA dentist didn't note it after 2 visits, but Hubby finally showed to me about month 3. Had biopsy, supposedly benign results, though I have not seen the report and was too sick to attend appt with hubby when he was told results. I do not believe it is "just a canker sore". What do I do now? Pay for him to see a Dr. outside of the VA system? Is there anyone here that would give me an opinion based on a photo? Thank-you very much...I am very frustrated with all this!! And Hubby doesn't seem to be too concernedeven though it hurts most of the time!...UGH!

Im sorry but this site is made up of oral cancer patients and caregivers. We do not have the medical background to be able to identify something thru a photo. Even doctors need a biopsy to know if something is cancerous or not.
Any sore that is in the mouth for 2 or 3 weeks should be checked by a professional. I suggest an ENT who specializes in oral cancer. Only thru a biopsy would you know exactly what it is. If a biopsy was already done what were the results? What type of biopsy was it?
If it would be oral cancer, time is important. By delaying it gives whatever it is time to grow and possibly spread. Hopefully it is nothing serious. Please encourage your husband to get this taken care of. Not to worry you but, I thought my tumor was a canker sore too, but it was cancer.
