He thought my thyroid seemed swollen so send me to a endocrinologist. I am having a biopsy tomorrow of a nodule. The endocrinologist ordered a barium swallow because she was concerned with my choking. I got a call today with the results that I have a nodule on the base of my tongue and referred me back to my primary and an ENT. Should I be worried? | | | | Joined: Mar 2014 Posts: 286 "OCF Down Under" Gold Member (200+ posts) | "OCF Down Under" Gold Member (200+ posts) Joined: Mar 2014 Posts: 286 | Hi, and welcome to OCF!
No, you should not be worried. A biopsy and referral to an ENT is exactly the right thing.
Don't go Googling things and scaring yourself. Keep calm and wait for the medical investigation to run its course. Your doctors have you on the right track to investigate the problem. It's your health to see about proper medical care, and get answers. Have the biopsy, see the ENT, and take it from there. Remember, It's not cancer until proven by biopsy, and it's more likely something else, hopefully.
Good luck with everything.

It is certainly disconcerting about a nodule at BOT but the saying goes it's not cancer until proven. Having a biopsy is the most and best thing to have done now. Try to not worry about all the possibilities until you get the results.
