Joined: Mar 2014 Posts: 7 | So Chris has been in the hospital since last Thursday with hyponatremia (low sodium). Rads and chemo suspended since then. So far the docs haven't managed to keep his sodium up through either water restriction or salt tablets.
Anyone have experience with this?

Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 5,260 Likes: 3 | Does he have issues with his thyroid? Or heart? Kidneys? what are they attributing it to? hope they get him sorted out and see what's causing it. Is he getting chemo? Maybe it's causing bladder issues? Or the rads has messed with his thyroid - which may or may not have already been faulty...

Joined: Mar 2014 Posts: 7 | Well, he got out yesterday evening and sounds much more lucid over the phone. I'm going to see him this afternoon. Not sure they ever figured it out, but the numbers are good enough now so onward!

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.
