Hi all,
I am a tongue cancer survivor. I have been cancer free for about 4.5 years. I don't post on this site as much as I used to, but even today it is my life saver. I love all of you, and think of you often. Here is my problem.

My tongue (or what's left of it) hurts like crazy, the floor of my mouth as well as my ears ache and my jaw bones (or molars)on the real tongue side. but I don't see any evidence of a sore or redness or swelling or anything thing at all on my tongue or in my mouth. My tongue always burns and has I got my flap, but this seems different. I hate crying wolf all the time,it makes me feel like a hypocondriact. I did worry way too much that the first few years, but should I be concerned now? should I just let it go and wait to see if a sore or something shows up like the last cancer? Should I wait awhile to worry, it's probably nothing.

Have any of you, that have had a re-occurance in Tongue cancer had it present this way?

Im sorry you are going thru some issues right now.

There are many after effects that OC survivors deal with on a daily basis. Some can appear months, even years after treatments have ended. The after effects normally are found in patients who have had radiation treatments.

Just like with an original diagnosis, OC can show no signs or symptoms at all until it is able to be visibly seen. Some patients may not have any symptoms at all yet have OC. This is why many times OC is not found until its later stages. Like everything... everyone is different, some will exhibit symptoms while others dont.

I suggest checking in with your ENT or whoever manages your after care. Get a good check up and see what they have to say. When you have something bothering you enough to post here about it, then its time to see your doc. Best thing that could happen is its nothing serious.

Best wishes!
