| Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 80 Supporting Member (50+ posts) | OP Supporting Member (50+ posts) Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 80 | Hi All, Recent newscasts and articles are highlighted the Roche Cobas Test (based on DNA?) as a potential better means of detecting HVP 16/18 testing for risk of cervical cancer. Since the HPV strains are the same ones that can cause oral cancer (as well as rectal cancer), I wonder if the test or similiar would/could be used in our cases also. I havent' seen any articles linking the testing outside of cervical cancer, but wonder if anyone here has more info/insight/thoughts? Thanks, Nancy

There are no good predictive tests for oral HPV pre cancers, only for episomal HPV which is transient in most of the population. While there are several sold by dental offices they provide you no meaningful information. Needless to say this is a huge problem for those of us that are interested in early discovery.
