Joined: Jan 2014 Posts: 2 | We are having issues for different dental problems. My husband had tongue cancer 8 years ago and now his teeth are demineralizing. The insurance company keeps saying this is dental work - well duh! But it's from a medical treatment- radiation to the mandible and chemotherapy.
We are in desperate need of advice/help in this area also.
Will check American Association of Maxillofacial. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

There isnt much that can be done except to appeal any denials. Push to get the doctor involved. They can write a letter and include the patients chart notes, tests, etc to help prove it is a necessary procedure directly related to OC. It can take many back and forth correspondence before an insurance company will agree to cover these things. Coding also plays a part in getting it covered.
