Has anyone on here been using the nicotine gum or mints for years and ended up with mouth cancer?

I have not seen any of our members discuss this as being the cause of their cancer.

See if any of the ingredients in the patches have any known carcinogens. I think any chemical has potential in some, and may depend on length of exposure, usage, even if they say it's safe, FDA approved. I used listerine mouthwash excessively for decades, and wonder about the high alcohol content, and ambersol on my back gum area for quite a while, and it contains a carcinogen to have contributed to me having tonsil cancer. A google search may help. Good luck.

Hi Paul

Thanks so much for writing to me. I actually think whats going on with my tongue pain at the back where the red white tissue and pain is, is coming from my tonsils as there is some strange tissue on the other side also near the tonsil. This is all happening so quickly, its really frightening. I see the oral surgeon who actually range me himself when i rang the clinic to report what had been happening. I know tonsils are not his thing but im hoping he can give me insight when he sees whats happening in my oral cavity. I have a lot of pain in my back soft palate tongue right now and feeling very tired and run down. My neck is sore and i also have a hard node on the rit side and pain in my neck on the left side. I have a great family but yeah partner is denial and that hurts. He just doesnt want to understand this right now even though the consultant was straight on the phone and very understanding and quick to get me in. I saw a gp about my odd bumpy tonsil and asked her threw years ago why one tonsil was lumpy and one completely opposite, smooth and out of sight. Now i dread i didnt get a second opinion. I have a five year old child and im ever more tired and in pain but emotionally and physically.

Tasmin, The best thing is to get checked out by the appropriate specialist like an ENT, but your symptoms can easily be one of the hundreds of oral conditions other than cancet. Tonsils can be asymmetrical, and be different, and have differnt features, I believe. The solid, enlarged lymph node lasting more than several weeks should be looked into, can be related. and usually a round of antibiotics are given, which if doesn't resolve, further tests, scans are ordered, even an FNAB, Fine Needle Aspirational Biopsy, to rule out concer, and obtain further histology from it.

Good luck with everything, and keep us posted. The unknown is very tiring, stressful, but you're on the right tract to be examined.
