Hey gang! I have been cancer free for 8 months. I am a Moffitt patient and I have several level 2 enlarged lymph nodes on the right side of my neck (my cancer was on the left side of my mouth). They have been present for about 3-4 months. On the CT Scan they measured about 1.2-1.5 cm. I have a follow-up appointment at Moffitt on Friday. Should I push for a biopsy of the lymph nodes? The doc said we would re-evaluate the possibility of a biopsy in December if they lymph nodes are still present. I know they are in this weird size category larger than 1 cm, but smaller than 2 cm and on the other side of the neck. Just curious if I should push for the biopsy, I am leaning towards biopsy. Thoughts?

Thanks friends and happy holidays.

YES!!! Just my thoughts. Three to four months is a long time. Guess you need to see what they say, but if it were Kevin I would insist on it.
Good luck. Let us know!

I had biopsies in the lymph nodes, FNAB under ultrasound guidance, that was smaller than 1cm, actually my last was 3mm x 7mm that proved positive for cancer, not saying yours is, but like all cancer, it's best to get at early. For any suspicion on the PET/CT, mainly lymph's, my ENT's, RO, never hesitated to rule out cancer.

Good luck.

After what you have already been thru, you can never be too cautious. If it were me, I would ask for a biopsy right away. Its always better to be safe than sorry. It will ease your mind too. I hope its nothing more than just some swelling or a minor infection causing the enlarged nodes.

Good luck!

If the biopsy comes via FNA then I'd be on board. If we are talking about a neck dissection to extract and biopsy I would think twice.

If a CT was done 3 months ago and that is when they were found and a CT still shows them there but no growth or even shrinking then I would go with doctor if he says to monitor and watch.

If during the past three months the lymphs have grown then I would push to get these evaluated now.

If these are the same doctors who treated you all along, I'm assuming you trust their judgement so that would weigh into the final decision as well.

Good luck

I would be wanting a more definitive diagnosis. Either a biopsy, a PET and then I would want a neck dissection. I would want them gone or major reassurance that they are not sinister.

Well had my appointment today. She saw a white spot on back of tongue she didn't like, so she did a punch biopsy of the tongue. And I have an appointment for a ultrasound guided biopsy of the lymph nodes next week (26th). She agreed that they still felt about the same size. Fingers crossed for all good news!

Good luck, and your doctor is moving in the right direction to prove or disprove cancer, and hopefully is not.
