Greetings everyone, I have a couple of questions about clinical trials, and how they work. My first question would be that I know of different phases, but what would happen if you had a positive outcome in say phase one and now it's over. Would you be allowed to continue access to whatever it was that worked? My second question would be, How would access happen? Is it thanks for playing, see ya? I doubt it could even be sold cause at this point it wouldn't be FDA approved. Just a couple of things I wondered about and figured somebody here might know. Thanks Tomo.

Tomo,

I am signed up to participate in a phase 1 clinical trial starting tomorrow. It is a drug that is supposed to reduce the side effects of mucositis. I receive the drug the first 14 days of treatment and then it stops. That is all that has been approved until they figure out the correct dosage and how safe it is. I have talked to the first guy to participate and he is into week 4 with little or no mucositis and mouth sores. I am getting a higher dosage then he received so I am hoping to make it longer before I start having problems. It kind of stinks we got cancer now and not couple of years down the road when the drug has been approved. I decided to participate to help the guy or gal down the road who is going through this. However you would like to think if they find the miracle cure they wouldn't wait.
