Hello,

My friend takes Zofran 30 minutes prior to taking in formula. Are there any suggestions on how to take the "edge" off the nausea feeling?

Does your friend use a feeding tube? If so, what method are they using to take the formula?

If they are using the feeding tube, usually if they slow it down and add water it will be tolerated much easier. Im assuming you are talking about prescription formula, there are hundreds on the market. It could also be the formula. Some are easier than others to digest. If they are using a feeding tube, they must be sitting up or inclined like in a recliner. The patient should lay still during the feeding and for at least 30 minutes afterward to help their stomach to settle.

Is the nausea event caused or is more constant? Smaller feedings may help, sitting up during feedings, and not lying down for two hours. I only used water to clear the tube, before, after feeding, if I used too much water it caused nausea, vomiting. I used the water for hydration another time, after feeling digested. When getting up, do it slowly, rather than quickly, otherwise than can cause nausea vomiting too. Good luck.

I take my medicines (other issues) powdered and mixed with water via PEG. I find mixing 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Soda with these stops the nausea. I also enjoy a cup of Irish Coffee with a nip of Scotch via the PEG this brightens up my day :-)
