I check the Oral Cancer News regularly and would encourage others to do so for the latest, accurate research information on Oral Cancer. Two that especially caught my eye were:

1) “Cannabis chewing gum targets oral side effects”. How I wish this had been available years ago when my son was in Rad Tx. Good to know that ways are being developed to help OC survivors survive the tortures of radiation.

2) “Throat cancer survivors sing to give thanks, encourage others”.

One of the songs mentioned in this story about the North Texas Laryngectomy Choir –has found new meaning for me as I think of all that OCF has done for me, for my son and so many others:

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy, when skies are blue
You’ll never know dear how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away.

Thank You, OCF and all the awesome people here, you really are my sunshine! smile

I was impressed by the OCF newsfeed article about dental oncology. Looks like Sloan Kettering in NY is on the ball and realizes the importance of special dental needs for OC patients.

Here is the link to the newsfeed.

David, you're right...it doesn't say how/where to get the gum, does it ? I'm wondering if I could even chew gum now with dentures...I haven't tried.

p.s. (I know where Eric is......he's at my house !! tomorrow is the FIRST EVER Chicago OCF walk)

Hi Ingrid....I just googled, found the link to the manufacturer, copied below. It's an interesting article, will be looking into this product more as my husband heads into radiation in a few weeks. Ana

P.S. I wish I could be with you and Eric on the walk tomorrow, especially as ya'll are just down the road. Instead, I'll be taking Vince for his neulasta shot (love whoever invented that stuff!) & giving him his home IV as this is a particularly rough chemo week. All 4 of us will be there next year, stronger than ever...:) Hugs to both of you and thank you for walking for all of us!

Ana, thanks for the info. Interesting; I have emailed them for more info. Sorry about the walk not working out; you will be with us in spirit. Best Wishes to hubby also.
