Hi! I've been lurking on this site since I found out I had cancer mid-July. Which really suprised me! I don't drink/smoke/drugs. I don't even eat fast foods ~ yesh. Somehow my tofu/soymilk health food & exercise loving self got cancer. The experience is just weird. Never cried about it either, it's all too weird. So I figure it's gotta be God's will so I'll go w/the flow & trust in his love.

My treatments started in August. Had a cancerous tumor lasered off on my tongue & a radical neck disscetion. Both left & right lymphs were cancerous. The remaining mini nodes some cancerous some not. Followed up w/Rad & Chemo. Radition was completed on Dec 2. Only just now the mucus is subsiding - but I still can't quite eat just yet.

This board helped me feel not alone & given the determination to survive. Thanx guys.

Welcome, Minky. I am so glad you found us. And it is great that your mucus is subsiding -- you can be sure other patients will be very happy to read about that. You are at a very good place now, finished with treatments and getting better every day. I suggest that you pick one day of the week on which to evaluate your progress. Sometimes you are not aware on a day-to-day basis how much you really are progressing. If you have any questions, there will always be someone here to answer. Do post again, as new patients need to hear from those of us who have gone through it and come out the other side. You are now officially a survivor, Minky!

Hi every1, thanx 4 responding!

Survivor is a great word 2 hear. I sort of did chart my progress when I started a video fitness diary w/the home-cam back in December '02. I started a weights & cardio program & wanted 2 visually see progress. It then became the before & after surgery in August '03. Oh man I was soo spacey-weak in December. It's good 2 see the swellings down, the scars fading & my bald patch where the radiation field exited growing hair again.

I'm kinda judging progress by how many tissues I go through 4 the mucus. Was 9 boxes per week, now it's 2. yay!

Anime TV series- Dragonball Z, Ruroni Kenshin, Big O, Cowboy Bebop, Macross.
Anime Movies - Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Millineum Actress.

I've got one black kitty in the house who plays fetch (great neck exercise 4 me!) & whose curled up purrs on my lap kept me relaxed.
