I'm getting radiation directly to the tongue, and submandibular lymph nodes. Encouraging to know taste will come back eventually, though it could take months or years. Ugh. Today, eating some hot cereal (quinoa and strawberries) I gagged a *lot* and coughed for the first time. Here we go... Day 11 of 27 tomorrow.

On one of my busiest days I find myself drawn to this website and even posting . . .
My taste experience is that I kept it mostly through treatment until the end, then afterwards it was bad, or hit and miss for a while, not sure how long.

Then sometimes I was better, sometimes it seemed like I went backwards, but I think it was just that my taste was changing slightly (an adjustment).

Now a year out it is pretty good, not perfect, but my saliva is a lot better, and that seems to help my taste buds. I don't doubt that for some people it is two years. That is maybe not good news to you Ben, but it is great news if you are 1 year out and would like it to get better.
