Sore throat swollen glands - went to ER thinking infection - not BOT SCC. First onc Two days later -inoperable 1-2 years with chemo. Second onc still inoperable,but better progonosis. Dana Farbdr group consult at recommend of 2nd onc - much better prognosis. Three CAT scans clear save for neck. PET Scan clear save for the neck. FNA HPV squamous
Chemo.starts tomorrow _ 3 Rounds - cisplaT, Taxoll, 5FU. Then 33rads IMRT and more chemo. They say otherwise I am healthy as a horse not bad forjust turned 55. Have been.loading water and other liquids, proteins, Ensure etc. So three weeks later on my way to start the fight. Gail

Welcome to OCF, glad you found us sorry you had to! I love the attitude, for being a 55 and apparently having the same fortitude as a farm animal I think you're going to do just fine! Keep the attitude, hydration and your nutrition up, and use these forums for support my dear and you'll hit the other side of this thing in stride!

Hi there and welcome! Smack the first dr. Seriously - someone well versed in cancer of the head and neck for e most part knows HPV related cancer responds well to chemo and rads!!! Distant mets is scarier but you seem to be localized - read up here on rads and chemo, the dos and don'ts and wha you're facing - rads isn't easy so eat up now. And good luck! You'll get hough it!
