It has been a little over a year since I last posted. After a few months of thinking I had oral cancer and visiting two ent doctors and a dentist I put it to rest.

A few weeks ago I noticed incresing pain in my right lower jaw. Since it had been five years since a visit other then just checking for oral cancer I made an appointment with a new dentist.

In the past whenever I have had a cleaning after a long period since the last one I have always had a lot of bleeding. This time only one tiny drop of blood which is very unusal for me. I had the cleaning and xrays before the dentist examined me. He looked at my xray and pointed to a large lesion the length of a tooth for the technician to make a note.

As soon as he looked in my mouth he said we need a biopsy. I really don't know how to explain the lesion. It is very large and is in th bony area of the hard palatte just behind my front teeth. The area is probably one by one and a half inches. There were also several white lesions in different areas on my gums and one larger one next to my back tooth upper right.
They could not find a dental reason for the pain in my jaw.
I also have swelling and a soft lump just below where the shoulder and neck meets.
The soft lump on my tongue that has been there for about three years now he said he is not concerned about.

I do not have money for the biopsy so I called the free clinic the next day and although they don't have a dentiys or even an ent now they think they can send me to a surgeon for a biopsy. I will go to the clinic on Monday and hope to get an appointment with the surgeon soon but with it being the holidays it may be a couple of weeks.

The pain has really increased the past two days and I hope I can handle it until then.
It looks and feels like the mumps but lower, mid jaw.
I do have the HPV virus but I don't know what type. I have never smoked but did drink heavy many years ago.

Thanks for listening
Brenda

Get the biopsy done as soon as possible - even if you have to borrow the money - your health is worth far more - try not to worry too much but when a dr suggests a biopsy do it. Good luck. And hopefully it will get taken care of quickly.

Brenda, I'll be thinking of you over the holidays and hope you can get the biopsy done soon! Did you have any luck yesterday at the clinic?
