Thank you for updating us on Nate, Eric. He's got a lot of us pulling for him and we await that "good news" that he wants to deliver. Hugs Nate!


Husband: 3 SCC gum and cheek cancers 2002, 2005, 2006: surgery only. Scans clear after removal of small, well differentiated, non-invasive cancers. No radiation. 4th SCC lip diagnosed 4/13/07 - in situ, removed in biopsy. More lip removed 2/8/08 - dysplasia. 2 Biopsies 3/17/09 no cancer (lichenoids)

Thanks for the updates, Eric and Christine. Glad to hear he's at MD Anderson.

@ Nate: Your OCF family is with you and here for you whenever. Wow! Look at all the prayers and healing thoughts that are being sent your way from all over the world! Your strength and fighting spirit are more powerful than the OC beast. Kick it's butt!

Ex-spouse MISDIAGNOSED with SCC-HN IVa 12/10. Tonsils out 1/11. 4 teeth out 2/11. TX Erbitux x2, IMRT x2 2/11. 2nd opinion-benign BCC-NOT CANCER 3/11. TX stopped 3/11. New doctors 4/11. ENT agrees with 2nd opinion 5/11. ENT scoped him-all clear 7/11. Ordered MRI anyway. MRI 8/22/11 Result-all clear.

Thank you for the update, Eric. Nate, your amazing strength gives me strength and hope. I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible so you can move forward to recovery and rehabilitation. Thank you for being such a power of example. I am sorry that you have to go through this at all. You are held in my thoughts often and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

37 y/o fem at Dx (23 wks preg @ dx on 3/16/11)
SCC L oral tongue (no risk factors)
L partial gloss/MND 3/28/11 @ 25 wks preg
T1-2N0M0; no rads/chemo
Tonsillectomy on 8/6/12 +SCC L tonsil T2-3N1M0 (HPV-)
Treated with 35 rads/7 carbo & taxol (Rx ended 10/31/12), but many hospitalizations d/t complications from rx.
Various scans since rx ended are NED!
Part of genetic study for rare cancers @ MGH.
44 years old now...I wasn't sure I would make it! Hoping for 40 more!

Thanks for the updates and I will be looking for the further reports from either you Eric and/or Christine in the days to come.
Seems he has a good team for his upcoming surgery and I hope it all goes smoothly and recovery is quick.
Glad to see that he has the pain and nausea under control and despite everything is in good spirits.

History Leukoplakia bx 8/2006 SCC floor mouth T3N0M0- Verrucous Carcinoma.
14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.

1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family

Just got an update from Nate. He had just got done talking with his team and his cancer has spread. They will be taking everything (total glossectomy and laryngectomy) and they still believe he has a high chance of a recurrence.

He still has fight in him but he's obviously reeling from the news. I'm sending up prayers and asking others to do the same as he goes into surgery tomorrow.

Hang in there my dear friend, I love you and believe they will hit a home run. Keep swinging.

Left partial glossectomy, left selective neck dissection 4/21/09. Nodes clean, No Rad, No Chemo.

CT Scan 9/11 clean, CT Scan 9/12 clean
