Sorry I have not been around for a while, Alhizmer's forum has been my other home for a while as my husband is getting worse.

Anyway positive vibes please, I have had an ulcer on the side of my tongue for 7 weeks (saw a GP 2 weeks ago) saw another GP this morning he said he will refer me to the head and neck clinic..

Now it is not what you know in this world but who you know..

I have an appointment this afternoon..

Helen

I guess that's the one upside to Alzheimer's but I imagine carrying this burden all by yourself doesn't make things easier - we do what we have to when a loved one is sick, but you should maybe take a little you time to relax - stress can have a real impact on your health and the health of your mouth! Take care and good luck Thursday - hoping for quick path results, and a big fat all clear!

That's bad luck, Helen. My husband has early Alzheimer's too while I'm going through various biopsies. It means you are a support person instead of getting support.

Crossing fingers for your biopsy.

1996, ovarian cancer surgery + cisplatin and taxol.
September, 2007, SCC of left lateral tongue. Excision.
October, 2009 recurrence in scar tissue, T1NOMO. Free flap surgery from left wrist - neck dissection. 63 year old New Zealander. No chemo, no RT.
February, 2014. New primary in left buccal mucosa. Marginal mandibulectomy, neck dissection, right arm free forearm flap. T1N0M0 but third occurrence and some areas of concern: RT started 8 April and finished 19 May.

Alpaca

I'm sorry that you are having to deal with two things as well, my husband now has virtually no short term memory so he has forgotten all about my problems, it's his birthday today and it has been a surprise to him at least 6 times today.

I hope you have some family support,I have not but my friends on TP (talking point) o the English Alzheimer's society forum are being a brick to me at the moment.

I hope you have something similar where you are..

Good vibes for your results..

So sorry that you are both dealing with this.
As you say Maureen the person who has been your support and carer now needs looking after as well as yourselves.
Not fair and very difficult for both of you frown

Hoping your biopsy turns out to be not cancerous. You have enough going on with your husband. Im sure its not very easy being his caregiver. Please remember to take care of yourself too and keep us posted. Best wishes!
