At this time there is no test to check men for HPV. Women get routinely checked at their gyno appointment. Here is more detailed HPV info from the National Cancer Institute (NCI).

NCI HPV info

Here is another helpful link from the Center for Disease Control (CDC). It states that 50% of sexually active people will develop HPV at one point or another. One thing to remember is that HPV does not always lead to cancer.

thanks, I have read these pages before, and know that they are more serious than many others that seem to create a name for himself by being scared and not so much facts.

I understand now that HPV either genital or oral does not mean cancer, until it shall become a persistent infection that can not be over for many years, then it must be developed mutations that further takes time, it feels like knowing that cancer can affect anyone even without the usual risk factors are the most important lesson and that they should seek help if you find something "odd" in the mouth, just as with the rest of the body and all other types of diseases and cancer, there is no difference with oral cancer. The difference is probably that people are not as enlightened about a lesion in the mouth should be examined as well as they should do with a mole that is changing ........ as I understand it, it oralcancerfoundations opinion and what you're working for ?
My first question was a thought I had ... how to be sure how many% with oral HPV or more importantly how you can be sure that 99% will pass. when there is no way to test infectious or monitor healing

There is much we do not know about HPV itself. You are asking questions that there is no scientific answer for today. Even those of us that understand the scientific literature here are not doctors or researchers, so you are asking unanswerable questions of people that do not the knowledge to help you any further. Asking the same questions in different terms on different forums will not generate any new answers for you here. The scientists do not know the answers to them, so I can assure you that we - as cancer survivors and patients - do not have them either.

ok, I understand what you mean, the question was more prepared as an open 'ask' a question of not giving straight answers may give different opinions and thoughts on the subject.

If you read oralcancerfoundations HPV page appears, however, have fairly clear views .. despite lack of response from the researchers?

Especially the information about how often the infection is over 99.1% seems to recur frequently and may well not be taken out of the air, there is not even research behind this?

I work at save the children and meet many young people, we have the last year talking about STDs and also HPV, young people have been asked to make presentations on the subject.
Unfortunately, this has created great anxiety in the group, anxiety and worry for sexuall onset anxiety in sex before they even started, largely because of all pages on the web that claim to know all the facts about HPV and cancer, which makes itself known through to frighten, your answer was at least honest .......... that even oral cancer foundation knows for sure what is true

Your posting to a QUACK doctor's web's site violates the rules of this OCF forum. I have asked the moderators to delete these links but you should do it yourself.
Here is the full story on the doctor who runs this Quack shop: he is a fraud and even Blue Cross insurance had to bounce him.
[quote]The Medical Board of California has disciplined Bicher three times. In 1995, the Board filed an accusation that ultimately resulted in an order for 18 months' probation from 1995 to 1997. In 2004, in response to new charges, an Administrative Law Judge made a convoluted ruling ... he concluded that Bicher had (a) been grossly and repeatedly negligent, (b) failed to maintain adequate records, and (c) exaggerated the value of hyperthermia. (Hyperthermia is a type of cancer treatment in which body tissue is exposed to temperatures of up to 113F. Local and regional hyperthermia may enhance the effect of radiation and chemotherapy for a few cancers. However, the judge ruled that VCI's site had improperly claimed that hyperthermia was highly effective on its own and was suitable for anyone at any age.) After considering the judge's findings, the board placed Bicher on five years' probation, during which he was required to engage a practice monitor or participate in a professional enhancement program that included periodic assessment of his work. Bicher surrendered his New York State license in 2005.

In July 2006, Bicher signed a stipulated settlement under which he admitted no wrongdoing but agreed to have his probationary period extended for two additional years. During this period, he was required to (a) complete an extensive training and assessment program and (b) refrain from using unconventional hyperthermia or radiation treatment protocols that do not have approval of an Institutional Review Board.
... The Blue Cross investigation was initiated, in part, because of excessive insurance billings they received from Respondent for hyperthermia and radiation treatments concerning 4 or 5 patients. It was the position of Blue Cross that the radiation doses administered at Respondent's direction at the Valley Cancer Institute (VCI) were so low the radiation treatment did not benefit the patients. In addition, Blue Cross further alleged that the medical records received from VCI for patient J.G. were altered. This was determined after patient J.G. provided Blue Cross with a copy of her medical records which she had obtained herself from Respondent. When compared with the records Respondent provided to Blue Cross, it was apparent that J.G.'s medical records had been altered to reflect that she had refused treatment. Respondent resigned his Blue Cross membership while still under investigation.

The evidence established that the radiation dosages per treatment, the frequency of hyperthermia treatments, the number of hyperthermia treatments per patient, and the manner of utilization of micro thermocouples was below the standard of good medical practice in the community.

If you truly want to dispel needless fears in the youth groups you work with, then please do not lead them astray with false web sites like the ones you posted here.
Instead you should steer them to real medicine sites that expose the fear mongers with their fake remedies

I immediately took out the links when I realized what kind he is, we have those in my country, it is terrible especially for the poor patients he cheat

You see what I wrote in previous post, I agree to meet with young people and I have managed to create a concern about oral sex, which was not my opinion, they will find much online that scares.

But now I have found more on your page where you write that you can not help sexuall lives determined from these risks or determine how to have their sex life, this I will inform them about the next meeting.

You misunderstand the whole situation, I present nothing for young people, they have been assigned to learn about various sexually transmitted diseases when even HPV, this research them in your own time and presents for the whole group at our meetings, even for me, I do not control the smallest in the chain of events, the pages I see o read I get from students.
They ask me about the credibility and risks, but I do not know why I found your page and thought you could give advice
