I'm new here and I'm scared. Last night I found a superficial pea-sized mass on my left neck. It is mobile and non-painful at the junction of the posterior scalene and upper trapezius (likely level 5). I was scheduled for my first post-op/post partum CT on 9/9/11. I spoke to my surgeon this morning and he wants to see me this Thursday. I wasn't even looking for he mass when I found it.

Sorry Kerri that you have this to worry about. It could be some infection from your previous procedures, or an infected gland. It's good that your doctor wants to check it out before September, even though it makes you scared. I'm sending a special prayer your way that it won't be anything bad. Others on the Forum with more experience will chime in, I'm sure, when they read your post. Let us know if you find out anything Thursday, and what your doctor says.

I was told a few times by Drs that if a small mass that size moves it usually isn't cancer. They might biopsy it to be sure. I have had 4 of those removed from my neck and shoulders. Biopsied confirmed what the Dr had said. Negative but he did remove them.

Hoping it's nothing... Could it be a stitch? Is it near your scar? I had one right under my scar and it's a stitch. Saying a prayer it's nothing! Try not to worry! Wait to get your results! And congrats on your baby!

Thank you, Julieann. It was nice to have a respose so quickly. I feel better knowing that there are those out there that had worse prognoses than I did, and they can survive. I tend to get ahead of myself and think I'm paranoid, yet I thought I was being paranoid that my initial symptoms were oral cancer. I have the good fortune of living in greater Boston and have perhaps the best surgeon out there. not only that, he is an amazing person...good to the core. I will surelt keep you posted.

Thank you, Connie. Your thoughts and congrats are much appreciated. I don't know why I got this cancer. I don't fit the risk factor profile, but my surgeon has had a handful of pregnant women with the very same situation.
