Iv had 4 days cisplatin and rt and have got two types of anti sickness tabs which are helping a bit. How long does this last? I have 2 days off then rt all week and am scared of being sick in that horrible mask and mouth piece! The obturator doesn't help with that at all Sorry I'm feeling sorry for myself today Jayne

Did they tell you to drink lots? You should - cisplatin is hard on your kidneys - drink a lot of fluids if you can, to clear it. That might help with the nausea. Though I imagine it's hard to keep it down. they keep us in over night and give use an iv of fluids and anti emetics I think this really helps, to clear the chemo. Hopefully you will be feeling better by Monday. Sorry you are having to go through this - it's not easy but you will get through it.
Taking an antiemetic maybe an hour before rads on Monday if you need to that should help in case you are feeling nauseated - take care.
Hugs

Hopefully, you will not feel sick when you are doing just the rt. Have you asked the MO if they can give you anti-nausea meds with your chemo? (I had something put right into the IV that was for anti-nausea, and it worked great.)
(Are you wearing your obturator during radiation? They had me take mine out...)
Hang in there, Jayne. You've gotten through your first few days! Do whatever you need to do to get the anti-nausea meds that you need. Remember, we are here to listen to you anytime -- keep writing.

I sweat a little as a result of the temperature. Weird thing is this elevated temperature comes about either in the late evening or the night. Some say it is due to the surgery. Others say it may be the body's reaction to the cancer in me. My PCP says not to worry until it exceed 100.5F. [/quote]
I wanted to provide a quick update regarding this low-grade fever. Turns out that it was an infection in the tongue. This wasn't found by all the docs who inspected my tongue by asking me to stick it out and visually looking at it. It was accidentally found by an oral surgeon who was removing my wisdom teeth and accidentally hit the tongue near the sutured area, and noticed a little puss. She immediately put me on antibiotics, and three days later I am pleased to report that the low grade fever is gone.
Moral of the story is if the doc says to just stick the tongue out, ask him/her to feel it, apply light pressure near the sutures, etc.
Happy Memorial day to all!
Best Regards, Chetan

I think the meds maybe a cause of it. As for the tongue, it's been close to 4 yrs since I could even lick my lips. I agree with Cheryl and am happy they found the cause.

It can also be your thyroid causing the night sweats. Have you had your TSH checked recently?
