Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 95 | I want to inform everyone who has head and neck cancer and needs financial assistant for dental, medical, etc .that there is a place to get help. It is the NCCS. National Coalition for Cancer survivorship. The form to apply is at: < http://www.headandneckcancer911.org/pdf/HNC911application.pdf> National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) 1010 Wayne Avenue- Suite 770 Silver Spring, MD 20910 (P) 240-821-9415 (F) 301-565-1610 It is not limited for people in a certain geographic area). It requires your physician to fill it out and then you add financial information and reason why asking. Maximum grant is $500. Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 4,912 Likes: 52 | I suspect that in the realm of "every little bit helps" this is relevant. But OCF gets a dozen calls a week from people with no insurance, can't qualify for state aid systems or Medicare. Those are the people we have to find a safety net for. 500 dollars will barely get a fluoride tray made these days, and while it is something, NCCS hasn't been of huge help to people that we have sent them. When you need the expensive treatments that conventional oral cancer treatments and their side effects cause dealt with, this is not a solution. Also for anything dental, which is the second thing we get many requests for funding sources for, (after treatment issues and even the most basic return to function appliances) they will not help you.
It was a generous gesture for you to support them. We work directly with them on many things during the year.

Does this mean only those patients will be able to apply? Or is it ok for anyone to apply for this?

Although not all of the references are relevant to oral cancers, as patients and caregivers we also have contact with those others in the "cancer family" who may find useful information.
SCC stage II Partial mandibulectomy w. neck dissection- July 2005. Renal cancer w. partial nephrectomy-Jan 2004. Breast cancer discovered in routine mammogram. Successful lumpectomy, sentinal nodes clear, RT only-2008 Reconstruction of mandible w fibula free flap-Jan 09. TORS removal of begnin pappiloma from esophagus-2010. Masectomy,rt breast 2013.
