Reggie, welcome to OCF. What type of surgery are you having on Thurs? Will you be having radiation afterwards? You will find lots of useful info both here and on the main OCF pages. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Best wishes with your upcoming surgery.

Welcome Reggie... you have found a great group. There are lots of people here who can answer questions, and give you an idea of what you face with regards to surgery and post op.

Take care and best of luck on the surgery.

Thanks Christine. I am having a disection done on my tongue. So far, My doc thinks that it has not spread to the lymph nodes. So, I chose to have him monitor me via ct scans every six weeks. If the cancer is not in the lymph nodes I will not have to under go radiation.

Hey - had the same surgery -6 weeks ago, are they rebuilding your tongue as well? Are you at a major cancer center for treatment? This is important stuff... Not sure of the size of your tumor but how does he know it's not in the lymph nodes? Is he planning to do a nck dissection as well? Best of luck Thursday?

Reggie,

Where are you being seen?

Were you a tobacco user?

What have they told you so far? Where did they find your Primary?

Any more info you can give us will help us answer your questions.

Reggie, adding my welcome. You'll find tons of help and support here. I'll be interested to read more about your situation - especially the answers to Christine's, David's and Cheryl's questions as best you can provide them.

I'll have you in my thoughts on Thursday.

sorry to hear about the upcoming surgery but glad you found the site! Will be thinking of you thursday and hope for swift recovery. I had my surgery almost a year ago and surgery was much easier than rad, so hopefully you won't have to have rad or chemo.
What stage are you and what side of ur tongue? How much of tongue is doc thinking they'll need to remove?
