Joined: May 2009 Posts: 1,412 | Not only do I have a small hole developing on the floor of my mouht, I now have right jaw pain when I try to open my mouth to eat or brush my teeth. The pain is located near my ear. Could that be TMJ?

Get yourself to a doctor. You may have food and junk caught in that hole that can cause an infection. I wouldn't wait.

Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 3,552 | Chiming in with Eileen it sounds like you have a developed a fistula which is venting an infection. It needs immediate treatment. Not necessarily ER but an emergency appointment to your ENT would be a wise thing to do. Could this be related to ORN?

Joined: May 2009 Posts: 1,412 | Well, the hole has closed up, and now I am on antibiotics for bronchitis. That part of my mouth/tongue is really hard and tender to touch. Not sure if it is due to scar tissue or something else. Still ahve the jaw tenderness, and have some swollen lymph nodes. My ENT had said finish the antibiotics and if they are still swollen to get my rear in his office. Part of me wonders if it really is bronchitis cause the oucgh is still there, my right ear has been hurting, but no infection. Who knows what it is, sometimes I do not think Drs even know.

Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 3,552 | My right ear typically has a fluid build up on almost an annual basis or anytime I get a cold. I go on a Prednisone regime for a week and it usually clears up by the last pill. The ENT can see the fluid buildup, behind the eardrum, with a standard otoscope
Sometimes I wonder if doctors use dartboards - but diagnosis is a process of elimination.
