As you can see from my signature my diagnosis is MEC not SCC.
Does anyone know anything about this diagnosis? I can't seem to find anyone who has any experience with this situation.

I've been able to find that MEC is in the third group of types of tonsil cancer, but little else. It appears that my situation is a least RARE.

My doctors say the treatment regime is the same as SCC, but admit that information is limited.

Any information would be appreciated.

Len

Thanks Christine, but I'm yet to find on any forum, someone else who has been diagnosed as having MEC of the tonsil. MEC yes, but not of the tonsil. SCC of the tonsil yes, but not MEC.

I've found literature referring to MEC being a possible cause of tonsil cancer, but little else. My diagnosis appears to be RARE and possibly VERY RARE.

I hope you are correct about someone posting some information.

Hi Len!
Sorry I'm late in replying but I had MEC. Mine was in the salivary gland, right tonsil and base of tongue, basically oropharynx region. PM if you have any questions, not sure how much help I could give you but I'll try.
