Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 1 | In 2004 I had a biopsy that was positive. Had surgery and the Dr. removed 40% of my tongue. About nine moths passed and I started having severe pain in my ears and jaw. A PET scan reveled the cancer was back and it was bad, I glowed in the dark. After Radiation and chemo I have been cancer free for over 5 years, there is hope. I have a checkup every 6 months and just had one.
In 2007 I had 55 radiation treatments for Prostate cancer, to my surprise a pet scan does not show prostate cancer need a PSA.
In 2008 a pet scan showed a 1 1/2 cm spot on my right lung. It was malignant and they removed 25% of my right lung. I am a 71 year old male and cancer free.

Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

Partial Glossectemy end March - margins not clear enough.
While waiting for resection - cancer returned,2 new cancerous lumps
Re-section End May & flap from cheek attatched. Margins clear.
Mid June - 4 teeth out
Mid July -32 Rads and 3 Cisplatin
6th Sept 10 Finished Treatment!!

Julieann Nov 2007 SCC on right tonsil following tonsillectomy. Was smoker, QUIT. (Stage IV T2 N2b) 7 weeks radiation one day/wk chemo (carboplatin and 5-FU). Allergic to Taxol; PEG in, lost 30 lbs.
