Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 38 | My mom is seeing an Otolaryngologist for her cancer. I have heard others talk about ENTS, cancer centers, and others. We're looking for 2nd opinion--should we see different type of doc?
Mom age 84 dx stage IV papillary cancer mandible 10/10; non-smoker, drinker, HPV-. Surgery 2/16/2011; mandibulectomy. 0 pos lymph nodes, has been in long-term hospital since March 2011. Returned home 8/11, permanent PEG tube.

The acronyms are confusing at first, but an Otolaryngologist is exactly the same as an ENT. ENT is the common name for an Otolaryngologist (and easier to spell) and it stands for Ear, Nose and Throat doctor.
