Hoping the radioligists get their you know what together and start this week. I swear both teams need to stop fighting and start treating, not tricking. Anyway, CISPLATIN Round 1 tomorrow, wipe my forehead, poor some water on my back and slide my mouth piece in, DING DING DING!!!

I am having 3 rounds, should I take one of the zofran or premethazine pills tonight before I go to bed to have it in my system? Or just wait and see what happens? I will be gone bright and early in the morning, I am as prepared as ever. Hopefully I will be able to do my video post after that, I can deal with the nausea, it is the fever thing they keep scaring me about...any ideas?

My husband had weekly Cisplatin in conjunction with the radiation. He had radiation Monday through Friday and then every Friday after radiation he had the Cisplatin. This was for 7 weeks. They coordinated it so he had the radiation and Cisplatin together. The way they explained it to us was that the Cisplatin enhances the radiation since chemo alone doesn't do anything for this type of cancer. When John would have the Cisplatin they would first give him anti-nausea meds through his IV. John took both Zofran and Compazine all through treatments and afterwards. Midway through treatments when the mucus got so bad he was constantly nauseas. Good luck and just take each treatment as it comes. We had a calendar on the refrigerator that we would cross each day off.

Its not necessary to take zofran right away. In my experience, it takes about 5 - 7 days before the nasuea will hit you. Zofran works great when taken on a regular basis. Ususally the first round of chemo is easier to tolerate than any subsequent doses. Ask your doc for the small zofran that is dissolvable or better yet, it also comes in liquid form.
One thing I learned about anti-nasuea meds is to take them a little bit before its time. If the label is take every 6 hours then at 5 hours its time to get another dose in. This way you will not let the nasuea kick in. This is how you can stay on top of the nasuea before it becomes impossible to keep the medicine down. If it were me, I would start taking the zofran at day 5 after the chemo. Of course, Im not a doctor just a patient who went thru this so please check this out with your doctor.
