Ok Eric....Thanks for that..... I havent smoked since I posted.


age 34 7-2010...STAGE 1 SCC tongue ...right side removed /clean margins and/ removed clean right side nodes/ 10-2010 biopsy on left side severe dysplasia.

Great to hear you've been able to quit the smoking!! And glad for the good news and progress with your treatment so far.

CG to son, Paul (age 33, non-smoker) SCC Stage 2, Surgery 9/21/06, 1/6 tongue Rt.side removed, +48 lymph nodes neck. IMRTx28 completed 12/19/06. CT scan 7/8/10 Cancer-free! ("spot" on lung from scar tissue related to Pneumonia.)

glad you stopped smoking, and i know it's tough, but hopefully stopped drinking too!!
I am glad it was not cancer, and hopefully it doesn't turn into cancer. I had right side of my tongue removed and I don't even know how you were able to drink or smoke yet!!
I tried a sip of beer and i am a bit over 7 months out of treatment, and 4 months out of radiation, and oh man it burned and hurt pretty bad!!
Just know if the cravings come back and you are feeling weak, talk to your doc, they can help. My boyfriends mom used chantix to quit smoking, and every now and then her cravings get pretty difficult, and doc just told her to go back on chantix to help kick em in the butt, and it's worked great for her!

I wish you a lot of luck, and hope this doesn't come back for you, but make sure you are doing all that you can to keep it away!!

Trach,ng tube, peg feeding tube
Hemiglossectomy, right side neck dissection, 40 lymph nodes removed. Free-Flap transplant to tongue.
30 rounds IMRT ended July 15,2010
