I would like to share my story shortly. In the year 2004 there was a small white patch in the left edge of my tongue and unfortunately I just neglected that as I have the similar sore in my tongue and after applying medicine they used to disappear. But this time it didn�t and was growing and thus formed a white patch. After 8 months one Oral Pathologist took sample and Biopsy was done and the report was Low Grade Squmous Cell Carcinoma and on 11th June 2005 my tongue was operated , half of my tongue removed and reconstructed from the tissue of my left hand. It was an Eleven Hour long operation. I am thankful to my beloved father (who also lost his battle against Renal Cell Carcinoma in December 2008) for his ultimate support and care and the courage shown before and after my operation. I am also thankful to my Doctors and to my beloved family for their support and care. I am the father of one lovely son of 13 yrs . By qualification I am a Graduate Electronics and Telecom engineer. I had to quit my job as after my operation my doctor suggested me to avoid stress and out door works. I am worried for my family specially for the future of my son.

I too am worried about my career after my operation, I have been a technician for Dodge, now Mercedes Benz for the last 7 years or so. It is an extremely stressful job and requires a bunch of brain storming and " what if's?". My surgery is September 16th and really have no Idea what to expect,never had major surgery before. They are removing my tongue tumor and both sides of my neck lymph nodes, So I dont know what kind of physical condition I will be in after all this. I hope everything works out for you and your family, nobody deserves this,nobody....

I do have to say I ignored the no work or too much of it, indoors or out. That was over 3 years and a few more surgeries, but I still do the work as it keeps me moving and alive. My Drs agree with my attitude now. And yes, I am no kid but a 74 yr old male that lives alone. I have lost over 80 lbs during this time, but besides the pain that never eases, I am very active. I am one that does everything for myself. I have nice adult kids, but it ie=s much easier to just go ahead and do what needs done than to wait. Waiting is the worst thing for me to do. Good luck with your disease, both of you. Just think positive.
