Glad press and seal works very well at keeping you from soaking up water. It also works for picc lines. I wrap my arm everyday to take a shower so I decided to try and take it a step further and swim.
I wrapped my arm and then wrapped it around my waist. It worked very well at keeping the pool water out. Of course it wasnt 100% leak proof but it did a good job and I would try it again. It was so much fun to swim and forget momentarily that I have been sick at all. After going thru 4 G tubes in a year, I have become somewhat overprotective of my G-tube. I really miss swimming and will have to try out "press and seal". I couldn't get any answers from the Interventional Radiology doctors on this issue who put in all my G-tubes as apparently none of this is taught in medical school. Only how to put them in and take them out. I'm accustom to wrapping a picc line as I did it for years for my patients before they would request a shower then when I had mine it was no biggie. I would split a hole at the bottom of a biohazard bag (or sandwich bag) then would wrap the press and seal wrap around that. You still get condensation build up but no direct water on the site.
Now, I wasn't brave enough to try wrapping my G tube, I too like Charm have become overprotective of it. But I so want to be able to go swimming with my girls and the thought has crossed my mind of coming up with some type of concoction so I can!LOL Now that you have, I think I might try it so thanks for giving me the extra boost to be adventurous!!LOL
