Jim's throat has a visible swollen area around his adam's apple and I was wondering if this was part of the recovery process. It's more so on the right side which is where his radiation was targeted. It is different from the two knots he found on the side of his neck which led to us to get the biopsy; this is a larger swollen place in the front. He showed it to a friend who is a 7-year survivor and the friend said his was like that after treatment too. But I wanted to ask you all. Did any of you have swelling in your throat/neck after radiation treatments? If so would you explain what yours was like? I read about turkey neck but wasn't sure if this was the same. Thanks.....Deb

I had the Turkey neck-lymphedema. Obviously I can't say that is what Jim has but I do remember thinking my neck was swollen. My RO got me into PT for exercise, massage and a Solaris neck garment worn at night which ultimately solved the problem. Good luck.......radiation, the gift that keeps on giving.

My treatment was a little higher up so I ended up with chipmunk cheeks. I had those for about 5 months. I still have a fuller face but my friends say I look like my old self again. I notice the difference but they must be getting used to the look. My ENT says that fuller face will never completely go away.
