Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 9 | Is there anything I can do about my huge "turkey" neck. I have the huge bulge under my chin and was wondering if anyone knew of anything to help get rid of this.
Stage 4a scc finished treatment Nov. 08 last scan 05/09 clear

Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,082 | I've seen different responses to this on the board (you can enter "turkey neck" in the search box to the right to see for yourself) ranging from massage to plastic surgery.
For myself, the turkey neck after the first radiation and chemo was neatly disposed of when they did the neck dissection and hemi-glossectomy as part of the salvage surgery.

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | I still have mine, but I had rads and chemo after the dissection and tongue surgery. It's a trademark now. I think maybe the rad seed implants up thru my chin into my tongue might have helped make it bigger.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,128 | You might check into Lymphedema Massage. It will help move the fluid back-up through the lymph system.
