Thanks Susan. I'm actually in "marketing mode" as I just finished a marketing plan and AD campaign for a regional credit union. Since being knocked out of work by OC I spend my time consulting through my own consulting business, specializing in Marketing among other things.

I love your idea with the dry erase board.

Eric, nice slogan. If you need a scary example of what after OC looks like, I would fit the bill.

All of these ideas are great! Here are my thoughts, which intertwine with those already expressed:

AD MESSAGE: (Keep it simple)
_____________________________________________________________
Whether oral cancer is caused by smoking, HPV or factors unknown, the key to successful treatment and long-term survival is EARLY DETECTION.
EARLY DETECTION is achieved through a simple, EASY TEST done by your dentist.
This test may SAVE YOUR LIFE!

SLOGAN SUGGESTIONS: (follow each with,"Ask your dentist!")
_____________________________________________________________
EASY TEST => EARLY DETECTION => SAVE YOUR LIFE!”

“Stick your tongue out, save your life!”

“Detection can be easy, Treatment is not!”

“Don’t put your money where your mouth is!” (sorry, couldn’t resist ;-})

There is a banner that I use when I do Oral Cancer Screenings that I got from Brian. You could ask him where the slogan came from, but here is what it says:

"IS A KILLER HIDING RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSE"

"A painless 3 minute exam can save your life"

I think it says it all.

You didn't give any details as to what will be done if we get this opportunity, but as a dentist and oral cancer survivor, you can count on me to pitch in, in any way that you might think I could help.

Thanks Eric. It was the saddest thing to see him writing everything down and couldn't get it down fast enough. It is just an image I will remember always. I do think images are powerful, just as Christine said. It hits home and hopefully shakes people up.

Thank you all for your great ideas! For those interested in finding out more about this campaign you can do so on the main website here: http://www.refresheverything.com/

I will submit the request for OCF's grant tomorrow and shortly after, the polls will open and voting will begin. Again, we are applying for a $250,000 grant from Pepsi and our specific project will be a PSA campaign. Once granted the $250,000 OCF plans to create a captivating commercial that will air nationwide informing the public the importance of oral cancer screenings. (This could be the beginning of a national program for opportunistic screenings which would yield early discovery by medical and dental professionals.)

BUT- this is all optimistic thinking at this point of time. Our main focus within the next month will have to be on getting as many people as possible to vote for our campaign! We did it in the past with the Cancer Fighter's Award and we can do it again! It will be great to have a team of volunteers dedicated to getting as many supporters to vote on OCF's campaign as possible- via social networking, email, phone calls, etc. If anyone's interested please shoot me an email! cannon@oralcancerfoundation.org

I will keep you all posted as to when OCF's campaign airs live on the Pepsi website!

Thank you all for your help!
Megan

This would make a great commercial...

The combo of these two....Oral Cancer is a hard disease to swallow and Detection can be easy, treatment is not would get some attention.

Set that to music showing pictures of people before and after like the sad commercials for the abused animals and you would have a winner!!!!
