Hello,

Starting this Wed, Pepsi will be accepting submissions for their “Refresh Everything Campaign”. They will take submissions 1/13 until 1/24 for campaigns that will impact the America. On Feb 1st, voting will begin on each project and at the end of every month Pepsi will award deserving organizations grant money. (10) $5k, (10) $25k, (10) $50k, and (2) $250k grants will be awarded every month.

In order to apply we must come up with a specific campaign that will impact the public in a large way and make a tangible difference. We must also decide how much money we will need in order to fulfill our mission.

Here’s the idea: A public service announcement commercial that will air on a basic cable station for a duration of one week urging the public to ask for an oral cancer screening at their next visit to the dentist. In order to meet this goal we will need to apply for the $250k grant. We must also come up with a catchy name for our campaign. This is where I would like your help, below are four that I came up with. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you like any of them or ideas of your own.

Turning frowns upside down campaign
No smile left out campaign
A screening a year keeps oral cancer away campaign
Keep America smiling campaign

Feel free to spread this around! I will be working on the additional necessary components from now til Wed so that we will be able to submit our campaign first thing wed morning. Once submitted we will be able to spread our campaign virally out to the www getting as many people to vote as possible.

Thanks for your help!

Megan

Hi -
Do the folks that fix cleft palates use "smile" in their campaigns? Seems I recall they do.

imo - some of these sound like campaigns for healthy teeth or toothpaste, but I can't think of anything better.

Maybe something along the line of what a dentist would say:

Open Wide: Fight Oral Cancer!

That's all I can come up with.

Shine the light on oral cancer, I like that! The ones I listed above aren't necessarily the best, just thought of those on the spur to get the ball rolling. I'd love to hear more suggestions as well!

ooooohhh marketing, I love it. Since television is a visual medium the most effective way to stimulate a response is in the images and not necessarily the slogan.

One of the most successful PSA's in history is the "This is your brain on drugs" campaign...actually made Rachel Leigh Cook famous.

Concept: (Image of a normal face) "This is your face"

(Image of disfigured face after OC) "This is your face after Oral Cancer"

"Ask for an oral cancer screening on your next visit to the dentist."

I can provide before and after pictures if needed, I was a handsome guy before cancer and a trainwreck after.

Eric, that is very powerful, I do like that. You are so right, images last forever. No one really knows what oral cancer can do to your face, or just normal living.

My brother lost his ability to speak, and only used an erase board. I can see him writing something on it "Don't let this happen to you, get an oral cancer screening today"
