Megan posted this link on Facebook to a news article in the News Section of this site. I keep re-reading it and it says nothing about how the diagnosis was made and why there were no treatment options. What vital organs? I think he was misdiagnosed and did not have "mouth" cancer as they call it in the UK. http://oralcancernews.org/wp/terminal-cancer-patient-is-given-the-all-clear/

Age 58 at Dx, HPV 16+ SCC, T1N2bM0, Stage IV BOT and 2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker and exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 with concurrent IMRT x 35, (70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over 8/28/06. June 2007, back to riding my bike 100 miles a week as if nothing happened.

Obviously it was the BEER THERAPY referred to in the article that cured him. I keep posting here that the one and only advantage of having a PEG with oral cancer is that you can SAFELY with no fear of damaging your mouth's cells, DRINK ALCOHOL This formal OCF post just proves it.  Charm

As a postscript to my prior post. Let me clear up a common misperception that Ben Franklin said that Beer is the proof that God love us. Here is the actual writing of Ben Franklin For the record, here, in a letter addressed to André Morellet in 1779, is what Benjamin Franklin actually did say:
Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards, there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine, a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy. Which works for me, since beer is a bit too fizzy for my PEG while WINE works wonderfully. charm

Dx 8.14.08. 42 at diagnosis. Stage IV Tonsil. Tonsillectomy 8.25.08. Induction chemo (9.29.08) (taxol and carboplatin) 5 weekly treatments. 35 rad and 6 concurrent chemos. Finished 12.22.08. No peg, no port. Neck dissection Feb. 09

Maybe he was misdiagnosed in the first place, or they mixed up the scans?
If not it's miraculous, it must be the English beer or real ale. Good because i drinl ale and stout, and our consultant said it's the least harmful alcohol.

You know I don't find this wierd or miraculous. Cancer is a disease and our immune system battles cancer cells everyday. The issue is that cancer is our own cells, not a foreign body so if our immune system doesn't recognize it as a threat then it does nothing to stop it. If it does recognize it as a threat then it will fight and possibly irradicate the disease.
Is it likely once a life threatening tumor has developed no...has it happened before? I think so. This guy is a lucky b*st*rd and if I were him I'd be thanking my lucky stars.
