Questions about flue shots, I have never had a flu shot and have never had the flu. Is the shot something I should be getting now that I have had cancer? I hate needles and shots, but I go back to my PCP tomorrow for a blood pressure check. Should I get it then?

I asked my Oncologist, a woman I have definately come to admire and respect, if she thought I should get the H1Ni. I get the regular every year. She said she could not advise me what to do but she, personally, is not going to get it. Her opinion was that it was being put together too quickly to objectively evaluate it. I will get my regular flu shot but pass on the H1N1. If I get the flu, and survive, I'll get back to you!

Ask your PCP. He/she is in a much better position to advise you that we are and you may want to confirm the recommendation with you cancer doc.
