here is another way to deal with the stress we all suffer. Last week, we went out to see UP, the new Disney Pixar 3D movie and it was wonderful. the 3D glasses were solid and worked amazingly well. Not at all like the old red/blue paper things. they fit easily over our glasses and the effects really complimented the movies story. The 3D shows were packed solid, but my so nhad warned us about the crowds when he went, so we bought the tickets on Fandago and sailed right in, snagging the last good seats. Most definitely not a movie where you can cruise in "on time' or late or else you had sit up front too close. If you have not seen it, we highly recommend it. It is more a childlike than childish movie. The opening montage of Walter and Ellie's courtship and life told in five minutes left my wife and I both in tears. Especially poignant back story of growing old together, then losing your spouse before you lived out your dreams. It takes a lot to get us to go out to a movie and pay $26 for a matinee (special rates for 3D) especially now when I am feeling so iffy. But we went Saturday and are glad we did. they also have non 3D versions running at each theatre, so if you guys go, be sure you have tickets for the 3D version. the cartoon characters seem real and the movies flies along. No sex, no real violence, just a reaffirmation of our need to give and get LOVE
No wonder it is top of the box office two weeks running.

I don't think I will be giving you a call. Please delete your link to your DVD site hidden in your signature as it is a violation of the OCF rules you agreed to when you signed up. I wondered about a poster whose very first message was not about cancer but about a movie. At least you were honest enough to answer your profile that you are not an oral cancer patient, you are not a caregiver nor does your family have oral cancer .
And ironically, Up is probably lousy on a DVD as the 3D technology used in the Movie Theater does not yet work on home DVDs even when you use the glasses. At least I know one web site that I will never ever use and I hope all 6000 plus members shun your touted site.
You must need the money very badly to pollute our board. I note you imply that you have lung cancer in your profile, but that does not give you an excuse to try and take advantage of us. Perhaps such blatant selling is the norm on whatever lung cancer boards you pitch your stuff, but not here. If you really are a teacher, here is a lesson for you:
Real winners never cheat and cheaters never really win. If you don't do the right thing, I have asked the moderators to remove you from this board.

Bye the way: DO NOT CLICK ON THIS VIOLATOR'S LINK AS HE/SHE PROBABLY GETS PAID FOR EACH PERSON WHO VISITS THIS SITE. You are not missing anything - it's just another rip off site that falsely implies it is related to the real Best Buy and it sells DVDs at higher prices than you would pay at BlockBuster bins or with a coupon at any major retailer. With sneaky promoters like this one, this site may very well overcharge your credit card as it clearly has zero ethics. So just ignore it until California time catches up with us East Coast early birds and then Gary or Brian will delete this offending link .

Her link was to Best Buy (so she is not benefiting from the link). Maybe it was an honest mistake. She just signed up yesterday. I deleted the link and I say we show a little compassion and give her the benefit of a doubt. She is a lung cancer survivor after all and it was her first day on the site. People make do make honest mistakes...

Gary

Compassion is one thing, FACTS are another. The link was NOT to Best Buy but to Buy Best - and that name is intended to deceive and trick as it did you. It is quite common for such dodgy sites to pay people to get visitors, hence my warning to our OCF family, I did consider the honest mistake but it's well nigh impossible to accidentally create a link in your profile. Still, I did answer her question by noting that the movie would not be as good in DVD as it was on the big screen in light of her signature just in case she is some zealot advocating staying home in front of the TV as cancer rehabilitation. Personally, I could not wait to go outside and enjoy nature after TX
Thanks for deleting the link as well as your private message.

The link is active -- now goes to a site called BuyDVDEzy. I don't think "benefit of a doubt" should apply any longer.

so much for "honest mistakes". While it is annoying to have these scammers, I have to admit to feeling vindicated as it is tiresome to be subtly rebuked for speaking the truth although I don't take it lying down as you can read here.
I feel sorry for Gary and Brian having to deal with scum like this all the time so that we can enjoy the forum. Even Consumer Reports no longer actively moderates his blogs or discussion forums, but just runs a software check for obscenity so their web site forum is filled with viagra ads etc.
Again, just ignore the link as it is clearly a "click for pay" scheme.

Fair enough. She (or whatever) was duly warned, ignored it, and is permanently banned. Thanks Charm and Leslie.

I also banned another potential spammer before they they even got a post in. I am notified every time someone joins the forum. I am taking a more agressive look at profiles now. This one was for "non-tobacco cigarettes"...

If the spammers want a war - they have got one! We have our weapons too.

Brian and I are up against this all of the time and often they'll sneak in the middle of the night. Thank all of you regular posters for being vigilant. We appreciate the help of the entire community to keep the forum both safe and on it's intended mission.
