He is scheduling biopsies and after hyerbaric oxygen. The hyperbarics will be at UPMC in Pittsburgh, It's a 200 mile roundtrip daily. Now I will let someone assist me with the driving. LOL Any volunteers?

I asked about doing the interview via phone. No dice and will be racking up the mileage on this vehicle after the Biopsies

I called my oncologist already and see the Surgeon Monday for an appt. . I will tell him then. It isn't as if gas was only $1.59 a gallon either. I just feel that would make me sick just doing that much driving before and after treatment.

One of my friends in church said he would give me $100 towards gasoline and the Pastor said the church would help too. So I guess the launch is scheduled for go. 1st the interview and physical thursday tho.

Think about it this way....6 friends each take can one day every other week. Then you would only need to drive yourself 2 days per week.

The hospital that I did both rads/chemo and hbo had a house set aside for cancer patients and families to stay in free of charge, I had half the distance to drive that you do and I just couldn't do it everyday.

To me it is relaxing and I also try to anticipate some of the knot heads on the highway , truck drivers and all.

I can't believe that the nearest HBO chamber is a hundred miles way and if it really is, driving it daily is insane. That's an hour an a half each way with no traffic. If nothing else, your back will kill you. Try to find a place to stay. Maybe the American Cancer Society can help you find a place to stay or help with payments. The cost of gas and ware and tear on the car, not to mention the body, has to warrent staying over. please investigate it.

Our insurance company provided us with a case manager when Dan was sick. We had an amazing lady assigned to us who helped us navigate the difficult times. When Dan was too sick to go to the hospital for hydration, she helped us arrange for homecare. Is there someone you can call at your insurance company who could help you find a closer site? There's HBO sites all over the place!
Another great resource for us was our family doc. He helped us do some things locally by coordinating with Dan's CCC team. There's got to be some options out there for you that do not entail a crazy long drive every day.

Check your insurance for milage reimbursement. I am surprised that David didn't advise you that the milage may be useseful as a tax deduction. Is there rail service from where you are to Pittsburg from there? Amtrak is unbeliveably comfortble and very relaxing. It's probably less expensive than gas with no wear & tear on the car.
