Ok here is something that I have been making and drinking throughout my treatment! I finally perfected it and it works great, the best part is that it is easy to put down. Here is is!

2 cans of CIB VHC (vanilla)
1 big scoop of EAS Protein Powder (choc)
1/2 cup of dry quaker oats
1 bananna
6 oz of Activia vanilla yougurt
1 cup of whole milk or water to thin it out

Put it all in the blender! I have a pretty high powered blender that makes it all very very smooth. It has a ton of calories, vitamins, protein, potasiam and helps a ton with the digestion problems that all the pain killers cause. The dry oats blow up in your stomach and keep you quite full! Instead of milk or water I used apple juice a couple times in the beginning but it started to burn a bit so I have been using milk now! Just wanted to share what has worked well for me being i am in the middle of my 5th week and have only lost 10 lbs without the PEG of course!

That is Carnation Instant Breakfast VHC and it has 560 nutritionally balanced calories in the small 8 oz can. When things are sore you get the most bang for your buck. I lived off of that stuff for at least a year. Even when I was able to eat solid foods I drank one half and half w/ whole milk with each meal to make sure I was getting enough calories.

You have to order it either on line or through a pharmacy like Walgreens or CVS. NO prescript needed.

That concoction sounds like its very balanced. I will give it a try. Anything to keep the weight on is a good thing when going thru treatments. Thanks for the recipie.

Thank you. I'll check with CVS today and see if they can order it. I have used the powder form of Carnation Instant breakfast, mixed with Boost, but the powder doesn't disolve. I could never find the liquid 8-oz cans in the grocery stores.

Juliean,

Carnation makes many different products so make sure they order the VHC (I assume that means Very High Calories). The first 2 times I ordered it from Walgreens they screwed it up. Walgreens did get it right and from ordering it to delivery to the store only took a day or 2 at the most.

I don't know where you are in your Tx (it helps to update your Signature Line) but during Tx I had to drink it room temp. It only comes in one flavor, Yummy Vanilla, lol but I couldn't taste much anyway. Heck towards the end I just held my nose and swigged it like a shot of tequila.

Julieann -

You can also try Amazon.com to order Carnation VHC -- that's how I did it. It was pretty cheap, too.

Yes Amazon is for sure the cheapest. I think it comes to $37 a case shipped! Where if you order it from Walgreens its like $59 a case plus tax! I ordered 4 cases at a time, and when I get tired of the vanilla...not like you can taste much....I mix in some Hersheys syrup now u have choc! lol, good luck!
