I just read online Jim Kelly who was the Quaterback of the Buffalo Bills back in my day has Upper Jaw Bone Cancer. I watched him play all his years, die hard Buffalo Bills Fan 30 years, season ticket holder. I sent him an e-mail hopefully whoever reads it sends him my message get to a Cancer Treatment Center. I also sent this forum to him.

Prayers for him and his family.

Sad story for anyone! What I read it sounded like Jim's cancer was his upper jaw. I hope he is one of the lucky ones and has an easy time of the whole battle. Hope he doesnt end up disfigured!

http://www.wivb.com/dpp/health/more-on-type-of-cancer-jim-kelly-has

This caught my attention because my 26 year old son was a fan of Jim Kelly growing up since he was 3. His grandma had bought a Jim Kelly jersey at a garage sale that he wore as a night shirt and that started the connection.

I sit here in disbelief Jim Kelly didn't go to a Cancer Treatment Center he went to ECMC read it in the Buffalo paper this morning. Buffalo, NY has Roswell Cancer Center I wonder what the reason is.

I don't understand 2 things. I read a different article that stated he had surgery in December and they had to remove his front teeth. That article and his press conference (a few days before the most recent surgery) did not say that he had cancer in December. I don't think that they stated the medical reason for that surgery. I am not a doctor but I would think that the jawbone cancer 6 months later would have to be related to the previous surgery.

I was curious about why he would go to ECMC instead of Roswell. I think that I looked on the website and ECMC lists itself as specializing in Oral Cancer. I am a skeptic about any hospital or physician claims so that may be a claim that isn't accurate at all. All of you know much more about this than I do but I noticed that Buffalo commenters were shocked about ECMC so I tried to check out why he might possibly go there.

I agree this whole thing sounds screwy. One would think that with his money he would have ostensibly done a better job pursuing this. JM2C's

I lived outide of Buffalo for 52 year. ECMC was at that time a hospital for the people who couldn't afford anything else. Maybe it's changed in the last 15 years I don't know, but Roswell is probably 10 miles from ECMC. They take in a lot of the homeless (ECMC) some sleep in the hallways that's the way it was, might have changed. I still can't believe he went there.

Stacey, I have a feeling he had his teeth pulled because of the pain and not sure what was wrong at the time, that's what I got out of it. This has been going on for months with him.

He's not a smoker or chews. But I did notice when he's interviewed he talks like he has something wrong with his sinuses. I noticed that years ago, might be nothing.

It upset me I wrote to WINK News in Buffalo about it. Lets see how this plays out, I'm sure he has the best medical insurance there is and he certainly has the money for the best.

My prayers are with him and his family they've had their hard times with their son, Hunter.

So I read a short blurb this am in my sports section saying that Jim is scheduled for surgery to remove part(all?) of his left jaw and teeth on that side and his docs will not recommend radiation post surgery.

Today's LA Times as well yesterday's CNN dot com report that he's saying he had left side jaw and teeth removal and that he's cancer free, no chemo or rads necessary. Good news for Jim. I wonder if he's ever visited this site or even knows about it?

For the record, a friend of mine in the sports biz told me some weeks ago that Jim had been a tobacco chewer.

David2 I read the same thing this morning. I wonder what Stage Cancer he has, no rads or chemo. I pray everything goes his way.

I wrote to Wink News in Buffalo about this forum hoping someone would tell him about it.

Never knew he was a chewer.
