I am 15 years out from the treatment of tonsil cancer. Started about 2 years ago, I have constant sore throat all the time, the sensation is just like when I get flu, but it never goes away....I visited my ENT doctor several time during past 2 years and was told that this could be the long term side effect of the radiation treatment I had...ENT doctor gave me Magic Mouth Wash to help reduce the pain. I am wondering if anybody else has similar experience and how do you handle the situation.

Ive had sinus problems ever since I finished rads. Its like I have a head cold every single day and Im almost 10 years out now. Theres all kinds of after effects that can happen years after completing rads. Especially if you had the old kind of rads before IMRT Maybe it could be post nasal drip that is irritating your throat??? I take liquid kids benedryl every night and a prescription singular every day to help keep the congestion and runny nose under control. If you take something you may want to first talk it over with your doc. Theres too many over the counter meds that will give you dry mouth which for us OC survivors comes with its own set of problems.

Heres a link for more info about rads where you can find the possible after effects, even the late stage after effects.

Main OCF site ... RADS

Good luck!!!
