That's the title of the book that I finally broke down and bought this week. It's subtitle is "20 Things people with cancer want you to know". I've read this book several times but never bought it partly out of pique that the author, Lori Hope, had written the book that I thought I could write based on the posts in the Don't you just hate it when thread I started.
But with an Amazon gift card from my birthday burning a hole in my pocket, when I saw that she had a revised edition out specifically in response to Christopher Hitchen's Vanity Fair article: "Miss Manners and the Big C" on the need for a "a short handbook of Cancer etiquette", I ordered it (using the OCF link of course).
If anyone is looking for a Christmas gift or a great read about the cancer experience, this is the book for you. On a poignant note, the new revised edition has an "after-afterword" by the author about how her lung cancer had come back again in 2011 after eight years. Lori Hope died on September 27, 2012 so I can't follow up on my plan to have her acknowledge OCF or add to her blog some notes on oral cancer.
I recommend that you take a look at the table of contents on Amazon (it's free) and see if that does not hook you.
I had no idea that some of the things we endure were universal cancer issues, somehow I thought the comments etc were unique to our situation. Out of all the cancer books I've read, this one is really good
