Very nervous cuz of unknowns - side effects, reactions, etc. It just felt so wrong to leave him there, but he insisted cuz he planned to go to sleep for the 4-5 hours he would be there! :-) I know we'll get thru, just wish it was next week already! We changed chemo docs last week cuz he did NOT feel comfortable with the other practice. Love the new doc, philosophies, practice and the fact that he trained at Moffitt. But, he likes 3x cisplatin instead of 7x; which means stronger dosage. That's a little scary. On the positive side, we're 1/3 way thru chemo and 1/7 thru rad - YAY!!
Husband Dx SCC left tonsil 6/2012 - T2/N2b, stg 4A. 48 y/o, never smoked, occasional drinker. Both tonsils removed + neck dissection, 6/28/12. 18 nodes removed (2 pos). 7x5 RAD, started 7/30 and 3x cisplatin, started 8/3. Port inserted 8/2. Still deciding: PEG?

Just keep coming here for info and support and you'll be ahead of the game. Your attitude as a caregiver is great, with your help your husband is in great hands. Glad he found a doctor he is comfortable with, that will make a big difference.
My mom did the 6 weeks of chemo as opposed to the 3 so I can't speak to the side effects on that. Many people here have though, so I'm sure they will be able to help.
Best of luck as you both move forward!

Most have the chemo early and then the 1st Rad later in the same day. Moffitt was an hour away from my home so that 1st day we were up at 4am and we didn't get home until after 9pm emotionally and physically drained!
