Turns out a PEG has finally made him sober.
Even more inconceivable to many of his friends, Mr. Hitchens, who used to thrive on whiskey the way a bee thrives on nectar, hasnt had a drink since July, when a feeding tube was installed in his stomach. Thats the most depressing aspect, he said. The taste is gone. I dont even want to. Its incredible what you can get used to.
And here I thought that people who said they drink whiskey for the taste were like those who buy Playboy for the articles. BTW, I never liked the taste of whiskey. Playboy in the 90's was a great publication in a literary sense, it was like an edgy mix of GQ, The New Yorker and Rollingstone. It really was a "gentlemans" magazine, sadly it's not the same publication. I was also dissappointed when the focus on the models steered away from real women to the surgically augmented, airbrushed robo babes. I'm with Sir Mix a Lot when he said silicone parts are made for toys. No offense, just preference.
Whiskey, now there's a drink, so complex and diverse and a flavor for just about every mood.
I'm a single malt Scotch man when it's business or casual, and prefer the Speyside region with Glenlivet being my standard. If I'm in a partying mood or playing poker it's Irish Whiskey, Jameson being my choice as I'm not a "blend" guy. If I'm drinking bourbon, well usually I'm looking for a fight. My boys Jack Daniels(I don't care if you prefer to be called Tennesseea Whiskey, you're still bourbon!) and Jim Beam would get me into trouble more often then not.
Never been a fan of the Canadian blends, for those that need a softer whiskey these are generally the answer though as they tend to be lighter. Australia started coming out with really well recepted single malts, sadly I never got to try any. Anymore spirits I really can't do (and shouldn't) but I still remember the tastes and enjoyment. Now I stick with beer or wine for the occassional drink.

I should have known you would be the exception. Boom, one more preconception blown apart. But then the whiskey drinkers I knew did boilermakers (depth charging a shot of whiskey into a glass of beer) Hitchens statement is validated about the taste being the thing. - My wife still gives me a subscription each Valentine's Day to Playboy (for both the articles and pix/cartoons - I'm a blessed man) It's Interviews continue to be excellent. Last but not least, I still have my wine with dinner, even with no taste thru the tube (actually safer than drinking)but there is zero temptation to overindulge. Keep the Faith Charm

How cool it would be to have been a Playmate...Ahhh...too late. I've known a couple of those pretty ladies. Worked with one and went to school with another. Both...100% natural with no after-market parts.
How'd I know you two actually read the articles?!? Intuition said you two pay attention to more than one Forum...

Hmmm, like I've said more than once, I need to quit my job and maybe I should try some standup comedy. But I just do enjoy making folks laugh, it does brighten ones day and it's good for your health too!
