Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | Just posting my excuse for being absent lately again. I got released to come home yesterday from the Hospital. Phneumonia this time and I just got the updated shot 6 weeks ago. LOL Unless tht is what is is supposed to do. If so, it works fine. If not, not at all. But here I sit now with the same leer looking for trouble to created. J/K. Sure feels good to be home again after being gone for some much of last fall and winter. Luv Ya all.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,671 | My goodness, Jim! - I was wondering why we hadn't heard from you for a while. Glad you are home but sorry you had a bout of pneumonia. Hope you are feeling better, now. I've had my own doubts about the flu shot. I suppose it depends on what is in the flu shot and of course what your doctor recommends. I never get them and have stayed pretty healthy (so far). Stay with us, Jim - it's SO good to have you back!

Julieann Nov 2007 SCC on right tonsil following tonsillectomy. Was smoker, QUIT. (Stage IV T2 N2b) 7 weeks radiation one day/wk chemo (carboplatin and 5-FU). Allergic to Taxol; PEG in, lost 30 lbs. History Leukoplakia bx 8/2006 SCC floor mouth T3N0M0- Verrucous Carcinoma.
14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.
1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family

I thought you were busy with some project - or just taking a break for the boards for a bit - I had NO IDEA you were ill and I am so sorry that I didn't follow up on my "mmmm.........haven't seen Jim post lately..." thoughts. One of your Angels was definitely on vacation (but now that I think about it we did speak just before I went on holiday so you must have gotten this around the end of January).
There are many people here sick this winter. We have had the mildest winter in my memory but perhaps it needs to be colder than this to kill more of the flu/pneumonia bugs? Back in the days when I used to get bronchitis I remember how painful the coughing was with that so I can only imagine what it is like with pneumonia!
Glad you are home, gets lots of rest as, no doubt, you will soon be planning your garden/yardwork for the spring.
